Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW
The position supports the Manager in driving the growth of the container business, expanding port market share, and strengthening stakeholder engagement with global and regional partners. The incumbent will assist in developing marketing initiatives, managing customer relationships, and coordinating key partnerships to support Kuantan Port’s commercial objectives.
REQUIREMENTS
• Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Logistics, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of managerial experience in marketing, business development, logistics, shipping, or port operations.
• Minimum of 5–7 years of relevant working experience in marketing, business development, logistics, shipping, or port operations, including at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or team leadership capacity.
• Experience in port operations and logistics, complemented by strong knowledge of container activities, supply chain dynamics, port services and charges, and trade or shipping practices, will be an added advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to support the development of business strategies.
• Experience in coordinating commercial discussions and assisting in partnership management.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with customers, stakeholders, and senior management.
• Customer-oriented approach and commitment to delivering business value.
• Proficiency in both English and Mandarin (spoken and written) is required to support effective communication and collaboration with key stakeholders and business partners.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Strategic Marketing & Business Development
• Assist in develop and implement integrated marketing strategies with a strong focus on the container business to achieve targeted throughput volumes and revenue growth.
• Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify industry trends, emerging opportunities, and potential risks within the container and shipping sector.
2. Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management
• Support the Manager in building and maintaining partnerships with shippers, shipping lines, stevedores, freight forwarders, and other key industry stakeholders to drive new business opportunities.
• Assist in engagement activities with trade associations, government agencies, and commercial partners to enhance the port’s visibility and reputation.
3. Investor & International Collaboration
• Assist in managing engagement with China-based investors and strategic partners (e.g., MCKIP, MCKILP, ECERDC) to support collaboration and alignment with port objectives.
• Support initiatives that strengthen Kuantan Port’s role as a regional hub through investment promotion and trade facilitation.
4. Performance Monitoring & Strategic Reporting
• Monitor container throughput, trade lane performance, and revenue generation trends.
• Prepare performance reports and provide strategic recommendations to support senior management decision-making.
